I Motorhead sono uno dei più grandi gruppi rock dal vivo, è dal lontano 1975 che hanno iniziato a girare il mondo. I loro concerti sono di una potenza impressionante e hanno annichilito milioni di persone intorno al pianeta Terra.

La cosa curiosa di questo concerto è che, come potrete sentire dalla viva voce di Lemmy, che il pubblico scambia Robertson per l'ex Fast Eddie Clark. Traduciamo in questa sede quello che Lemmy disse quella sera al pubblico, dopo averlo sentito acclamare Fast Eddie appunto: "Hey! Non dite cazzate! Eddie ci ha lasciati, OK?! Ci ha lasciati nella merda! (...) Lui è Robbo (Brian Robertson) e se non vi piace ve ne potete andare! Capite? Robbo suona la chitarra dieci volte meglio (...). The funny thing about this concert is that, as we can listen from Lemmy himself, that the crowd mistook Robertson for Fast Eddie Clark. Times. Phrases that you can listen to the MP3 I Got Mine. La prima data dei Motorhead dopo sei anni di assenza dai nostri palchi e debutto per Mikkey Dee come batterista dei Motorhead nel nostro paese. Credo che abbiano sudato tutti alla grande in un Velvet stracolmo. Chi era presente già nel primo pomeriggio si ricorderà che i Motorhead hanno eseguito una canzone blues come soundcheck. Dissero che doveva essere compresa nel prossimo album ma invece rimase inedita.

Motorhead's first show after six years of absence from our stages and debut for Mikkey Dee as Motorhead drummer, in Italy. It was a sweatbath inside the packed Velvet. Those of you who were there that afternoon will remember Motorhead playing a blues song for soundcheck. They said the song was for the next album but stayed unreleased. MP3: Liar.

Il Biker Fest si tiene ogni anno alle porte di Udine ed è il più grande raduno di motociclisti in Italia. Ci siamo tornati dopo il giovedì precedente, serata in cui erano originariamente confermati i Motorhead per poi essere annullata. I pochi temerari che erano lì quella sera si ricordano della spaventosa pioggia che ci fu a due ore circa dal concerto. Una cosa mai vista che creò in breve tempo un vero e proprio lago, bagnando tutto il palco e l'amplificazione, nonostante le tende, e lasciando sott'acqua cavi e altra attrezzatura.
Il concerto venne così rinviato al sabato successivo e fu un successo. La porno star Luana Borgia precedette i Motorhead con uno spettacolo che definire piccante è un dolce eufemismo e, poi, i nostri si sono esibirono di fronte ad una folla di circa 16.000 persone.

The Biker Fest takes place every year near Udine and is the greatest gathering for bikers in Italy. We went there after the previous thursday, when Motorhead were confirmed after after a bit cancelled. Who was there that night will remember the buckets of rain that came down two hours before the concert. Something never seen before that created in no time a swamp, wetting the stage and the Motorhead gear (despite some big tents). The concert was therefore re-scheduled the next saturday. Pornostar Luana Borgia preceded Motorhead with a strip show in front of a crowd of approximately 16.000.

L'Atrium è una piccola discoteca col soffitto a cupola e il soffitto scendeva tanto che Mikkey si è ritrovato a suonare con la testa che sfiorava lo stesso soffitto!

Giornata incandescente quella di Assago, è stata una cosa pazzesca aspettare i gruppi del “Gods Of Metal” su un piazzale d'asfalto! A fine giornata eravamo brasati.
Concerto bellissimo, nonostante i problemi di suono e di feedback che hanno disturbato alquanto. Da notare che per l'ultima canzone, “Overkill”, è salito sul palco niente poco di meno che James Hetfield dei Metallica.
I quattro di San Francisco avevano già registrato alcune canzoni dei Motorhead contenute nel singolo Motorheadache, infatti è dai Motorhead che hanno trovato maggiore ispirazione per iniziare la loro carriera.
E' stato curioso vedere James dietro le quinte che, col tipico atteggiamento di un fan, ronzava intorno a Lemmy!

Very hot day in Assago, it was crazy to wait for the band at the “Gods Of Metal” festival, on that square of asphalt. On the end of the day we were roasted.
Very good show, although the sound problems and feedbacks that have disturbed somewhat. Note on the last song, “Overkill”, was sung by James Hetfield from Metallica. The four from San Francisco had already recorded some Motorhead tracks in the single “Motorheadache (Hero Of The Day)”, in fact it is from Motorhead that they found greater inspiration in order to begin their career. It was funny to see James Hetfield backstage, with the typical attitude of a fan, hanging around Lemmy!

Un caldo devastante quei giorni, a Roma abbiamo creduto di schiattare. Nello spazio dedicato alle foto potrete vedere una eccezionale istantanea del caldo di quel giorno.

Incontro Phil e Mikkey, poi dò un'occhiata allo showtimes del giorno, i Motorhead faranno il soundcheck alle 4:30, ma si limiteranno a “Damage Case”. Alle 7:00 suonano il primo gruppo di supporto: gli Hardcore Superstar dalla Svezia, sono un gruppo eccellente, suonano un tipo di rock'n'roll “vintage”.

Il concerto inizia e sento subito che il volume è più basso del normale. E’ stato imposto un limite di 95 Decibel, una cosa assolutamente ridicola per un concerto dei Motorhead.
I Motorhead suonano mediamente con 140 Db di potenza ma il 12 giugno dello stesso anno a Oberhausen (Germania) hanno raggiunto addirittura i 160 Db, una cosa devastante!Pensate che ho letto da una parte che un aereo di linea al decollo sviluppa 130 Db!
Comunque, 95 Db sono troppo pochi e infatti mi è stato detto che poi il tecnico del suono ha alzato il volume fino a circa 125/130 Db!
“Brave New World” è stata l'unica canzone estratta dal nuovo album “Hammered”, del quale tra l'altro ne capeggiava la copertina in un enorme stendardo che faceva da sfondo. Il video, in cui tra l'altro appare il Papa, è stato trasmesso per tre settimane da MTV qui in Italia.

Poi arriva il momento di andare , domani ci attendevano 800 chilometri da percorrere per arrivare a Torino. Indugio un attimo visto che Lemmy sta ancora sfogliando il suo libro “Lemmy - in his own words”, infatti era la prima volta che lo stava leggendo!

A burning heat those days in Rome. I don’t know how many degrees we had but I remember it was impossible to stay in the sunshine.In the photo album you can all see an exceptional photo of the heat that day.
We met Phil and Mikkey then we had a look at the showtimes, Motorhead play soundcheck at 4:30 (only “Damage Case”). At 7.00 play the first support band: Hardcore Superstar from Sweden, they are an excellent band and play a kind of vintage rock’n’roll.

The show begins and we feel right away how low the volume was. We knew they had a limit of 95 dB that night, something ridiculous for Motorhead.
Motorhead play usually at 140 dB but some days before in Oberhausen (Germany) they reached the peak of 160 dB and I’ve read that an airplane at the takeoff reaches 130 dB!
Anyway, 95 dB are much too little for Motorhead and eventually the sound technician after some songs pushed up the volume to 125/130 dB.
They played only “Brave New World” from the latest album Hammered, whose front cover was painted on a big banner behind Mikkey Dee. The video, which features the Pope, was aired for weeks on MTV in Italy.

Then we chatted with the Bastards and it was time to go, tomorrow we have to drive 800 kilometres until Turin. I stop just a bit to see Lemmy reading the book: “Lemmy – in his own words”, it was the first time he was reading it.

Non molto da dire, come ho raggiunto il posto Mikkey ci dice che il concerto è annullato. Incredibile ma vero, il "Supermarket" (un posto orribile, tra l'altro) non aveva abbastanza potenza elettrica per sostenere il carico dell'equipaggiamento dei Motorhead! E' stato pensato di aggirare i sistemi di sicurezza per poter aumentare la potenza ma poi, ovviamente, non se ne è fatto niente.
Lemmy e Phil sono rimasti nel bus mentre Mikkey sta fuori a incontrare i fans e a distribuire foto promozionali del gruppo in bianco e nero.

Not a lot to say, as I have caught up Mikkey he says us that concert is cancelled. Incredible but true, the Supermarket (a horribile place) did not have enough power in order to support the Motorhead PA! Somebody thought to jump the circuit to increase the power then but, obviously, the band refused. Lemmy and Phil stayed in the bus while Mikkey was outside meeting the fans and to deal promo black and white Motorhead photos.

Eravamo sull'autostrada per Venezia, mancavano ancora 80 km all'arrivo. Stavamo andando veloci perché avevamo paura di non trovare il posto o di non arrivare in tempo. Comunque, era circa la una quando abbiamo raggiunto il bus dei Motorhead!
Alle 6:00 inizia il soundcheck e, con nostra grandissima sorpresa, eseguono “Rockaway Beach” dei Ramones, canzone che doveva apparire nel tributo ai Ramones ma che poi è rimasta inedita. Poi trovano spazio anche parti di “Rosalie”, “Just 'cos You Got The Power” e “Cat Scratch Fever”. Inizia il concerto e mi ritrovo downstage a fare foto, Phil è stato così gentile da posare per me per due secondi durante la seconda canzone. Lemmy annuncia:”We are Motorhead and we're gonna fuck your head up”, ed è stato di parola perché passano i primi minuti e mi accorgo del volume altissimo. Non sono riuscito a sapere quanti Db sono stati raggiunti ma sul finire ho sentito dolore nel mio orecchio sinistro. Probabilmente abbiamo raggiunto i 160 Db, l'unica cosa di cui sono certo è che è stato il più forte concerto dei Motorhead che ho visto. Le orecchie hanno finito di fischiarmi dopo sei giorni!! Da notare come il pubblico si sia allontanato dal palco e Lemmy si gustava la scena compiaciuto.

On the motorway to Venice, still 80 km to the arrival, we were going fast because we were afraid to not arrive in time. Well, it was almost one o’clock when we caught up the Motorhead bus!
At 6 the soudncheck began. They played “Rockaway Beach” by the Ramones, a song that had to appear on the Ramones tribute but remained unreleased. Then they played “Rosalie”, “Just ‘cos You Got The Power” and “Cat Scratch Fever”.
The show begins and I am downstage to take photos, Phil posed for two seconds for me to take a good photo. When Lemmy appeared on stage he told the crowd: “We are Motorhead and we’re gonna fuck your head up!”. He kept the promise, after few songs the volume increased a lot until I felt the pain in my left ears. We probably reached a peak of 160 Db. I am sure that it was the loudest show I’ve ever heard. My ears stopped ringing after six days! It was strange to watch the crowd leaving the stage area, because of the sheer volume. Lemmy was really pleased!

In un Mazda Palace conosciuto anche come Palaforno i nostri hanno dovuto decurtare la scaletta di due pezzi, causa problemi organizzativi.
E' stato toccante vedere quanto il gruppo sia ancora amato, era un festival ma credo che almeno l'80% delle magliette fossero proprio dei Motorhead. Nelle foto potete vedere i nuovi stivali di Lemmy, fatti in Texas e la cui stella è stata disegnata traendo spunto da una medaglia italiana della Seconda Guerra.
Fra le altre cose hanno eseguito “Over The Top” e Lemmy ricorda, immancabilmente che Phil è mezzo italiano.

I was amazed to see how much the band is still and always worshipped, it was a festival but I think that 80% of the t-shirts were Motorhead.
In the pics you will see even his new white boots made in Texas, Lemmy told me he designed them and the star is an Italian medal of II world war!
We heard “Over The Top” for the first time since 1980 and Lemmy, as always, tells the crowd Phil is half Italian.

Un'altra partecipazione dei Motorhead al Gods of Metal, l'ormai consueto appuntamento estivo per i metallari in Italia. L'arena era ridotta ad un pantano a causa di un nubifragio che si abbattutto il giorno prima, sarà difficile per tutti dimenticarsi il fango di quei giorni. Aspettiamo le 19:30, quando Lemmy & Co sono saliti sul palco per un’altra delle loro impareggiabili esibizioni dal vivo.
I Motorhead erano in un ottima forma e il concerto, come al solito, è andato in crescendo, non solo per il volume che veniva progressivamente aumentato. La ciliegina sulla torta è stato l’assolo di Mikkey Dee (eseguito all’interno di Sacrifice), le sue esibizioni non finiscono mai di stupire. E' per questo motivo che abbiamo deciso di inserire proprio Sacrifice in MP3.

Another time for Motorhead at the Gods of Metal, the already traditional summer appointment for all the metalheads in Italy. The Arena was a real quagmire because of a big rain that occoured the day before. It's impossible to forget all that mud of those days. We wait for 7:30 p.m., when Motorhead get on stage for another of unique live act.

Motorhead were in a very good shape and, as usual, they made the sound to increase. The cherry on the top was Mikkey's solo in the middle of Sacrifice, his performarces never end to astonish the crowd, that's the reason we decided to put Sacrifice on MP3.

Another gem of the show was that Dee Snider from Twisted Sister joined Motorhead on stage for Killed By Death.
